It is Summertime, and I am enjoying a vacation in Sweden visiting family. I spent my first week in Stockholm, shopping, eating, and scouting out comic shops. Did I mentionĀ eating? During the summer months, it only gets truly dark here for about 3 hours. Which gives me plenty of daytime to draw, read, and write. While abroad, one of the books I produced dropped in stores this week.
The World Famous Creatures Collection is released
About a year ago, FantaCo and IĀ began a long journey toĀ co-publish a collection of the 1950s horror magazineĀ World Famous Creatures. WFC was a WarrenĀ Famous Monsters of FilmlandĀ competitor, one of the better ones.
WFC featured a cut-out mask on the back cover and house ads illustrated by legendary comic artist John Severin. The original magazines can be hard to find and costly in good condition.Ā Ā Growing up a Monster magazine fan and collector, bringing a restored collection into the market seemed right in my wheelhouse. The magazines were printed on very cheap paper and the photo reproductions varied from good to horrible. I did my best over a 3 month periodĀ to restore them for this collection. I think you'll find it worth the wait.
The soft covers have completely sold out in pre-sales and the hardcovers are going fast. A digital version will be available in the near future.
I will be back with theĀ Making the SeriesĀ returning in the next In the Studio update.
Till then, keep creating,
