It is Summertime, and I am enjoying a vacation in Sweden visiting family. I spent my first week in Stockholm, shopping, eating, and scouting out comic shops. Did I mention eating? During the summer months, it only gets truly dark here for about 3 hours. Which gives me plenty of daytime to draw, read, and write. While abroad, one of the books I produced dropped in stores this week.
The World Famous Creatures Collection is released
About a year ago, FantaCo and I began a long journey to co-publish a collection of the 1950s horror magazine World Famous Creatures. WFC was a Warren Famous Monsters of Filmland competitor, one of the better ones.
WFC featured a cut-out mask on the back cover and house ads illustrated by legendary comic artist John Severin. The original magazines can be hard to find and costly in good condition. Growing up a Monster magazine fan and collector, bringing a restored collection into the market seemed right in my wheelhouse. The magazines were printed on very cheap paper and the photo reproductions varied from good to horrible. I did my best over a 3 month period to restore them for this collection. I think you'll find it worth the wait.
The soft covers have completely sold out in pre-sales and the hardcovers are going fast. A digital version will be available in the near future.
I will be back with the Making the Series returning in the next In the Studio update.
Till then, keep creating,
