In the Studio, I am currently creating the new Margo Intergalactic Trash Collector 11 page story. I will take you through my process 3 pages at a time.

THE SETUP: A giant hole in space is shooting out spores that travel the universe, opening portals for evil invading hoards.
In the last post, I took you from my sketches to inks (above) using ClipStudio Paint for pages 1-3. I will continue, moving into my coloring process into Photoshop starting with page one.

After importing into Photoshop, I begin flattening, creating my color holds. on a new layer. These will become very important to my coloring in the future.
Using the selection tool, I begin to add dimension to the page.
Adding color to the selected area, I begin to contrast certain areas and complement others. I am careful to keep my colors consistent from panel to panel.
Now that I have the colors blocked out, I can begin to make some adjustments. Creating a new layer I can brush in some highlights.
Changing the space hole to yellow works much better. I have added some highlights to the yellow.
I changed the negative space around the panels to black, which dramatically changes how the colors appear.
Traditionally, the Margo books have had black borders. Today the digital press's ability to bleed colors is taken for granted, but, this was once cost-prohibitive for printing. I am going to be taking advantage of that in my design.
I will be adding much more color detail, but now that I have a general feel for where I am going with the colors, I am going to move on to page 2. I will circle back to add more detail after doing flats on pages 2-3.
Keep creating,
