Next Sunday, June 11th, I'm excited to be attending the Albany Comic Con - my favorite local comic show! Comic and Marvel-centric, my favorite kind of con. It is always an opportunity for me to draw some of my favorite silver age characters. I always try to have something new to bring to the show. This summer it will be limited Amazing Spiderman prints, and so here we go.
Amazing Spiderman WIP breakdown…
My original concept sketch had Spidey in the middle of a web.
While doing the inks, I changed the background to a city perspective and I included the iconic Spidey signal. Instead of webs, I use motion lines to draw the eye toward the figure.
The finished colors. I have left room at the top of the image for the logo.
The logo is added, but it still needs one more tweak.
I want to bring the hand forward so it sits over the logo. adding some motion to the design
To block out a section of an image, I use the pen tool to draw the desired shape, then I copy the original image and paste it into the newly created shape. This allows me to layer it over the logo.
I enlarged the image to crop in tighter, completing the design.
And there is my Spiderman art. If you’re in the upstate New York area, drop by the Albany Comic Con, say hi, and get it signed.
I will be back with another Creating the Series Part 5 in two weeks.
