Creating the series part 3

Creating color selections using layers

In my last blog post, I started color-flattening a new Margo Intergalactic Trash Collector mini-series. I got a few positive responses on these posts so far. So I will do more. If you have any questions send them to me. I will do my best to answer any emails or messages.

I continue my flattening here with page 2.

THE SETUP: A giant hole in space is spewing out spores that travel the universe, seeking out planets to open portals for an invading force. The spores land on a lush planet, a hillside monk. Thinking it a sign from above, the monk soon finds himself surrounded by Invaders.

The spores are coming. Separating the visual levels by color, I can move the reader along.

I have created basic flats but will change the colors as I get into more detail later. I am able to do this by keeping the flat colors layer locked and adding new layers to color on top. The Flats Layer will be a major resource for editing my colors and saving time-making selections.

By creating layers over the locked Flats layer, I can build my scene.

I have added some light and shading effects. I will revisit this page after I have flattened all the pages in the story.
