In this post, I will be converting my breakdowns for "Eve of War," a 5-page short story by Noel Hannan, into digital drawings using Clip Studio Paint.
First, I scan the low-resolution images of my final breakdowns. Then, I import them into a layer and use a 27-inch Wacom with the G-Pen to create a traditional comic inking style. Since the line between the penciler, inker, and colorist is blurred, I use a system that maintains a consistent style, which is essential to me.
The War Marshall meets with a subordinate ahead of the Imperium's invasion of the rebel stronghold.
Because of the backgrounds being space, I am leaving lots of room for the colors. Can you spot the changes made in the final drawings?
Taking advantage of the bleeds, I extended the panels to create a more cinematic flow with a thin margin between them.
The story ends with an unexpected turn of events as the two men bid farewell to each other and go their separate ways, never to meet again.
Next, I will introduce the colors as I switch gears and some fun effects with Photoshop.
Keep creating,
Very cool.
INKS! This is the content I'm here for.
